Tell somebody you’re proud of them today.
“I’m so proud of you”. This is such a powerful sentence.
Who are you proud of? What have they done to make you proud?
Do you know anybody who is going through the hardest battles and still surviving? Tell them you’re proud of their ability to show up and keep going with a smile each day.
How about somebody who has taken the leap to set up their own business and is not yet seeing the fruits of their labour? They took that leap of faith. They are persevering. They are running on self-belief and belief in God/higher power/the universe to see them through. Say congrats. Encourage them. Tell them how proud you are of them for being a shining example of courage and determination.
What about somebody who usually gets a C-grade who comes home with a B or a C+? Share in their happiness – because I assure you they will be excited inside – and tell them you’re proud of them. They are waiting for the one(s) they love to welcome them with such positive words of encouragement.
And even if you have a loved one who hasn’t done very much of which you are proud of lately, say it anyway. Because I’m sure you will find beneath all of their lacklustre performances and seemingly insignificant changes, there is something to be proud of.
Somebody told me they were proud of me today and it made me cry. A lot. I didn’t know how much I needed to hear those words until I heard them. It’s been such a long time. I guess, I’m like most people. Humans crave love, attention and affirmation that we are on the right track; that somebody understands we are doing our best, even if our best doesn’t look good enough.
So, if you haven’t heard this in a while, I want to share this with you: I AM SO SO PROUD OF YOU. Keep going.
